Maureen “Moe” Nolet, Area VIII Vice President

Maureen (Moe) Nolet is originally from Lawrence, MA. She moved to Arlington, VA in 1972 and started her civil service career with the Department of Navy, Naval Electronic Systems Command, later to be re-named Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. Beginning as a clerk typist, she advanced to the position of Deputy Director of the Congressional and Public Affairs Office. In 1997 the organization moved to the west coast and she remained in the area to be a public affairs officer for U.S. Army Reserves. Other duties included program manager for the Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act and program manager for the U.S. Army Reserve Ambassador Program. She retired from federal service on Jan 2, 2005 and soon after moved to Fredericksburg, VA. Prior to her civil service career she lived in Germany for a year and a half & worked in the private sector.

She has been the president of Chapter 90 in Fredericksburg for 4 years; has served as VFC Nominating Committee Chair for two years and was on the VFC By-laws and Constitution Committee.

She serves in several organizations assisting in public affairs and other capacities. Also does volunteer work for several organizations including; the University of Mary Washington Philharmonic Orchestra; the Elks Lodge; Newcomers & Old Friends; the Fredericksburg Expo and Convention Center, and the Rappahannock United Way. She also is very active in planning and assisting with social activities in the community where she resides. She enjoys meeting and helping people, sewing, embroidering, decorating, organizing events, attending concerts, gardening, exercising, working at the polls & many other activities. A special enjoyment is going back home to New England to visit family.

Virginia Area VIII Chapters

Area VIII is made up of seven chapters in the Central Virginia area with over 1,600 active and retired federal employee members. The area stretches from Kilmarnock and Colonial Beach along the Atlantic coast to the Fauquier and Louisa chapters in the West. The Caroline County chapter is to the South and the Fredericksburg, Lake of the Woods, and Falls Run chapters are in the center of the area. 糹


Virginia Area VIII Chapters


  • 2112 CAROLINE
    Monthly Luncheon Meeting: 1st Thursday of each month at 12 Noon at Timbers Restaurant in Ruther Glen, VA.
    Meets 2nd Tuesday at 12:00 noon except July and August at the Hunan Diner with a boat trip in July.
  • 1549 FAUQUIER
    Meets 2nd Tuesday at 11:30 at the Inn at Vint Hill
  • 2343FALLS RUN (Fredericksburg)
    Meets at the Falls Run Community Center on 1st Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.
    Meets every 3rd Wednesday at 1:00 pm at the Salem Church Library. The Library is located off Route 3 on Salem Church Road. (From I-95 take the Route 3 exit in the direction of Culpeper.) If there is a change to the location of any meeting, it will appear in the monthly newsletter.
    Meets the fourth Thursday in Feb, March, May, July, Oct, and Dec in the lower level of the Lake of the Woods Club House, and September, 5:30 PM, picnic, Sweetbriar Pavilion, LOW. Meeting times may vary and may occasionally include a lunch or dinner.
