Jeanne Garrison, Area I Vice President
In general, the four Chapters in Area I -- 682 Peninsula, 685 Colonial Williamsburg, 1757 Peninsula, and 1823 Northern Neck -- hold monthly meetings, with a brief business session and a program with various speakers. Program speakers or topics have ranged from a Virginia Fish & Game warden to predicting hurricanes to health issues such as health insurance and medicare scams. Some meetings have been held at wineries and museums.
Chapter meetings have also had politicians -- such as Congressman Wittman or a staff person from Senator Warner -- as speakers at Chapter meetings.
Efforts of these Chapters to raise funds for Alzheimer research have included a quilt raffle, participating in walks for Alzheimers, silent auctions, and soliciting funds in memory or honor of a loved one. Chapter 682 Peninsula has completed the 31st mile in its "Miles of Pennies" campaign.
